Snapchat was rumored to announce a new hardware product for some time and it has done exactly the same now. It is time for Spectacles V2 which are basically an improved version of the original Spectacles which failed miserably in the market. Snapchat is still hopeful of turning things around in the hardware segment and if the newer version features are anything to go by, it certainly has a chance to do achieve the goal.
The all-new Snapchat Spectacles V2 is quite lighter and sleeker when compared to the previous offering. They can be used for clicking photos and videos which was previously limited only to videos. They still have the white lights in circle shape which indicates that the user is using spectacles for recording or capturing something. They are also water resistant to help you capture moments from beaches.
In the official announcement, Snapchat said,
"Spectacles are now more comfortable to wear with a smaller profile, and they're water resistant — so you can bring them to the beach, or your next pool party! Tap the button to record video with new and improved audio, and now, you can press and hold to take a photo! Snaps you capture will transfer to Snapchat up to four times faster, and always in HD."
The always HD support is definitely a good addition to the Spectacles V2. This will make sure that users always get HD quality content after syncing. Previously, the whole process included syncing content in SD and then allowing the user to download the content in HD. This extra step resulted in many users settling for the standard definition content. The team has further made it a lot more convenient to sync the recorded content from the Spectacles to Snapchat account. It can now be done via Bluetooth with no need of scanning a QR code like the older version.
Snapchat has priced the Spectacles V2 at $150 which makes them $20 costlier than the older version. They will be available in a number of color variants with the option to opt for prescribed lenses. As for the availability, they will be sold only via Snapchat app and company's official online store in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and France.
