If you’re into smartphones and have heard about Xiaomi than for sure you would know that this Chinese company is known for award-winning designs, amazing build quality, aggressive pricing and apart from smartphones, it makes a wide variety of accessories as well, which includes power banks, speakers, earphones, backpacks etc. The only caveat here is that most of these products are mostly launched in China. However, there are a couple of e-commerce stores where you can buy Xiaomi's products, more about that, later in the article.
Today we are going to do a detailed review of the Mi Neckband Bluetooth Earphones. These are easily one of the best Bluetooth earphones we’ve reviewed off late in terms of overall build quality, Audio output, comfort and value for money.
The packaging of these Bluetooth earphones from Xiaomi is pretty elegant. The front clear window gives you a full view of the neckband and once opened you can find other accessories housed below the white casing.
In the box you get:
- The Bluetooth neckband
- A USB to micro USB cable
- Extra earbuds
- And a user manual

In terms of design and build you’d not have any complaints from this neckband. It is made from flexible rubber with metal tips at either end. The left end houses the volume keys, power buttons, LED indicator and micro USB charging slot while the right side is button less. These buttons can be easily reached and are sturdy.
Though one would’ve preferred if the power button had some texture to differentiate it from other buttons. The micro USB charging port is covered by a plastic flap and opening the flap isn’t easy which ensures that it doesn't become loose quickly.
The aluminium caps built on both the ends feel premium and do not scratch easily. You have wires connecting to earbuds coming out of each end of these tips. These earbuds are also made of metal and come with in-built magnets that help the earbuds to stay together. The earbuds feel sturdy and do not scratch or dent easily. Even though the earbuds are made of metal they do not feel heavy and fit in very comfortably.
Mi Bluetooth neckband earphones are one of the most comfortable earphones around weighing just around 40 grams. When worn around the neck, the band rests comfortably and its sweat resistant rubber build ensures that there is no itching or sweat if worn for longer duration.
The earbuds are also very comfortable and feel weightless when worn this ensures no wear fatigue and you can use these headphones for longer duration. While you may take these earphones with you for a jog and the earbuds sit nicely in your ears, you may have to adjust the neckband once in a while. Again, workouts were fun using these earphones. If you’re wearing a collared shirt than it’s easy to conceal the neckband beneath the collar while still using the earphones without any hassles.
These Xiaomi earphones come with Bluetooth 4.1 and wireless connectivity with compatible devices works like a charm. Even reconnecting with any previously paired device is faster than any other Bluetooth earphones we tried recently.
Talking about the most important aspect here. These earphones do what these are supposed to do and effectively. The audio quality out of these headphones was honestly better than we expected. It was quite balanced and just the right amount of Bass to give that thump. There is APTX support from Qualcomm so if you’ve got a smartphone with APTX support than these may sound even better than the regular devices.
The inbuilt microphone is located discretely on the left arm and the volume is loud and clear as well, though a few did complain that it sounded like a call on speakerphone.
Right from melodies to rock music or songs with high bass and boom, these headphones did just fine at mids and highs, though we would’ve preferred slightly better performance on bass. So if you need a pair of Bluetooth headphone which is comfortable and overall decent audio performance than these are a right choice.
At this price range, ANC or active noise cancellation feature could be sorely missed as well. These being in-ear headphones, they do control external sound however at low volume you may hear the external sound leaking in, which may be irritating at times.
The second most important part of any Bluetooth earphones is their battery backup. These earphones come with a 137 mAh battery and the company claims an 8-hour backup, however, we got around 7-7.5 hours max while playing music at 70-80 percent volume. This is slightly on a lower side considering the price you pay for.
Another downside is that these earphones come with a micro USB charging slot and take almost two hours to charge fully. So you may need to carry a micro USB cable in case your phone charges via a USB Type C.
Overall the Xiaomi neckband Bluetooth earphones are a really nice pair of earphones and do offer the value for money you spend however with their own set of limitations. So if you are a regular traveler who’s on long trips or someone who needs extra bass or even active noise cancellation, you may have to look at other options. For the rest, these are the perfect pair of Bluetooth earphones. In fact one of the most comfortable in-ear Bluetooth earphones.
These earphones normally retail around $58-59 since these are not available outside China officially, you can grab these earphones from Gearbest. Using a coupon code: PXCCRI83EJ can give you an extra 8% off, except a flash sale or a clearance sale.
