It has been reported that Huawei is working on a new 20W SuperCharge protocol (SCP). This new charging solution may power Huawei and Honor’s devices in the year 2019 and sits alongside with the ridiculously fast 40W charging solution of Mate 20 Pro which is capable of fully charging a 4,200 mAh battery in just 60 minutes.
However, owing to high costs, the 40W charging solution is limited to the flagships like Mate 20 Pro and Honor Magic 2 at the moment. While the 20W charging solution could power the mid and high range devices from Huawei and Honor.
A leaked document now reveals that the next-gen 20W SuperCharge will have 10V/2A to deliver 20W power instead of supporting the existing 10V/4A combination thus using half the amperage of the SuperCharge Gen. 2 available with Mate 20 Pro and Honor Magic 2. The new charging solution is said to work with both Micro USB and USB Type C solutions.
If this gets ready on time then, the new protocol may power Huawei’s upcoming P30 while the P30 Pro being flagship may still get the 40W charging solution.
