Amazon Echo Wall Clock sales halted due to connectivity issues

23 January 2019 2

Amazon has officially halted sales of Echo Wall Clock citing connectivity issues as the reason. A number of users have shared complaints and reviews regarding the issue where the smart wall clock seems to lose the connectivity. This is definitely something which is likely to bother anyone using the product.

In an official response, Amazon acknowledged the existence of the connectivity issue. It did not go into details like what is causing the issue or how much time it will take to fix the same. It simply mentioned a vague timeline of "coming weeks" which suggests that it is something that could get fixed as soon as in the next few days or take as late as about a month or even more.

Here is the complete statement:

“We’re aware that a small number of customers have had issues with connectivity. We’re working hard to address this and plan to make Echo Wall Clock available again in the coming weeks.”

For the uninitiated ones, Amazon's Echo Wall Clock was launched late last year alongside other new Alexa-powered devices. It looks like any other traditional wall clock but features an LED array. This array is used to show the time in the analog fashion. It also has Alexa support which is useful for adding reminders and setting timers. While the clock itself works using four AA batteries, it relies on Bluetooth and WiFi connectivities for accomplishing the smarter aspect. A user also needs to have at least one Echo device to make use of the clock for setting reminders/alerts.

It has been priced at $29.99 which makes it more appealing to Alexa fans. The listing for the same is still live on Amazon but it is listed as "Currently Unavailable".
