05 February 2019 1

In a market when there are not too many standalone portable media players, Chinese audio equipment maker FiiO has launched its new portable media player, the FiiO M6, in India. The FiiO’s M6 comes with high-resolution lossless audio and the latest specifications.

The portable media player M6 comes with a 3.2-inch 480*480 pixel touch screen display, running on a custom Android version and comes with Samsung Exynos 7270 SoC and has an ESS Sabre 9018Q2C digital-to-analog converter (DAC) for signal conversion.

Since it is not a smartphone it does have a 3.5 mm audio jack, pun intended, for wired headphones but also comes with Bluetooth connectivity with AptX HD and LDAC codecs. The FiiO M6 comes with 2GB of internal storage with support for storage expansion via a micro SD card up to 2TB, a 1200 mAh battery which, the company claims, offers 13 hours of backup when using wired headphones and 15 hours when using a Bluetooth headset or speaker.

This new portable music player from FiiO comes with pre-installed apps like NetEase Cloud Music, MOOV, Tidal, and KKBOX. Alternatively, you can also install other whitelisted apps.

The FiiO M6 supports a wide range of audio formats including DSD, FLAC, WAV, ALAC and popular compressed audio formats such as MP3, WMA, OGG and AAC. For connectivity, apart from Bluetooth, it comes with Wi-Fi and USB Type-C connectivity. This ‘Hi-Res Audio’ certified gadget comes at a price of Rs. 14,900 and can be bought from all major online and offline retailers, apart from the company's own India web store where it is listed at a price of Rs. 12,000.

Almost the size of a mobile phone, the FiiO M6 High-Resolution music player offers quality output out of a tiny and portable looking device. And I guess, the cost does justice to the whole device!
