Apple AirPods 3 with water resistance to arrive by late 2019 | Report

10 July 2019 0

It has only been a few months since Apple launched AirPods 2 but it appears to be already working on launching the third-generation variant. A Wedbush analyst Phillip Elmer-DeWitt has shared research notes predicting that AirPods 3 should arrive in the market by the end of 2019.

DeWitt has added that AirPods 3 will be bringing major changes as compared to AirPods 2. The next-gen AirPods 3 is claimed to feature water resistance support which is something users have been demanding for quite some time. It was earlier rumored to come with the second-generation wireless earphones but as we all know, it did not happen. It seems like we will finally be receiving the support this time around as it also falls in line with a previous report.

Apple is also said to offer some design enhancements but there is no information on exactly what kind. This is important considering that both original AirPods and AirPods 2 come with identical design. If we end up seeing AirPods 3 with some kind of new design, it will be the first major physical appearance change for them.

The two changes predicted by analyst seems plausible but it is the release timeline which we are skeptical about. As mentioned in the beginning, AirPods 2 was unveiled only a few months ago. It seems highly unlikely that Apple would be releasing two generations of the same product within the same year. But whenever it might happen, AirPods 3 should cost higher than the predecessor because of the aforementioned changes.
