Apple starts selling Xbox controller after adding support for Arcade

11 October 2019 0

Apple has now started selling the Xbox wireless controller through its official online store. If you are wondering why Apple is doing this, it is because of the Apple Arcade game subscription service. It is a service that is available for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and tvOS devices and also supports Bluetooth gaming controllers including Xbox and Sony DualShock 4 controllers.

It seems like the idea behind directly selling Xbox wireless controllers is to make Apple Arcade more appealing to existing as well as potential users. There is no doubt that Arcade has some really cool, unique, and entertaining video games that can be played natively on the supported Apple devices. But we also know that gaming experience improves significantly when the same game is played using a controller.

Apple has priced the Xbox controller at $59.95 with an option to choose between home delivery and store pick-up. The exact dates for both will vary depending on where do you live in the United States. It will also be sold through physical stores starting October 11th i.e. today but considering the pricing, we are confident that you can save some money if you will try other online and offline stores around your area.

Even though Arcade also supports Sony DualShock 4, we did not find any sign of that on the Apple store website. There is a chance that Apple might add that to the catalog later but nothing is confirmed yet. But if it does, we will keep you updated.
