The Taiwanese giant Acer unveiled two new Predator lineup laptops today at the CES show. The two new additions are Triton 900 and Triton 500. Starting with the Predator Triton 900 as it was showcased a few months ago at the IFA 2018. However, at that time the company didn't unveil hardware, availability, pricing and other details.
The Predator Triton 900 looks quite special due to its special hinge which distinguishes it from all other 2-in-1 PCs in the market. The company opted aluminum stand like hinge which holds the display from two sides. Acer dubbed the new hinge as "Ezel Aero Hinge" which allows using the Triton 900 in four different modes.
As expected the first mode is notebook mode which allows you to utilize Triton 900 as a normal laptop. The second mode is tablet mode which allows you to convert one of the most powerful windows laptops into a tablet. As being a gaming-centric machine it comes with "Ezel mode" to enhance the gaming experience. Last but not the least it comes with display mode which allows you to flip the display screen so that it can be shared with others as well.
The Triton 900 doesn't lag in any aspect as it comes with a fairly large 17-inches IPS display with 4K screen resolution. It also supports Nvidia G-Sync. The top of the line variant comes with 8th gen Core i7 processor. The Nvidia's latest RTX 2080 is taking care of graphics. It comes with PCIe SSD storage and up to 32GB DDR4 RAM. The package includes an Xbox wireless receiver which means you can use your Xbox One controller on this PC. As expected all these goodies come at a hefty price tag of $3,999. It will be up for sale in March this year.
Not everyone is looking for something special or if you don't want to spend hefty amount the company is offering a budget-friendly option as well Predator Triton 500. As the name suggests it isn't packed with as many goodies as the 900 series but still it is a solid gaming machine. It is one of the portable gaming machines which weighs 4.1 pounds and maximum thickness is 0.70-inches.
The Predator Triton 500 features a slightly smaller display of 15.6-inches with Full HD screen resolution. The display refresh rate is 144Hz and it also supports Nvidia G-Sync. Under the hood, it comes with same hardware like the larger sibling. You can opt latest Core-i7 processor, up to 32GB DDR4 RAM, RTX 2080 GPU.
As far as availability is a concern the company did confirm release later this quarter at a price tag of $1,799 for the base model.
