Alcatel's CES 2020 lineup of product announcements included a total of four smartphones. The Alcatel 3L, Alcatel 1S, and Alcatel 1V are expected upgrades over predecessors with the same name. The fourth device called Alcatel 1B is a newer addition to the family as it is an Android Go smartphone.
The Alcatel 3L is a camera-centric smartphone with the goal of bringing improved low-light photography to the budget segment. It features a triple rear camera setup headlined by a 48-megapixel camera. It makes use of "4-in-1 big pixel" technology to merge four pixels into one and offer better and sharper 12-megapixel still shots with 1.6.μm pixel size. There is also AI integration along with scene detection for up to 22 scenes. The other two cameras include a 5-megapixel ultra wide-angle sensor and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. The front camera is an 8-megapixel sensor.
It sports a 6.22-inch HD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and a small dewdrop-like notch at the top. There is an undisclosed octa-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. Alcatel has not revealed the battery capacity yet but is touting it as a "large all-day" battery. The Alcatel 3L has been priced at $155 with an option to choose from Chameleon Blue, Dark Chrome and Agate Green color variants. It will go on sale in select markets in Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa in Q1 2020.
The Alcatel 1S is another triple camera smartphone from the brand but it is even more affordable than the 3L. It has the same 6.22-inch HD+ display with a notch. It also has an octa-core processor but with no information regarding RAM and storage capacity. The triple camera setup includes a 13-megapixel main sensor, a 5-megapixel depth sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor.
Other details about the phone are unknown but Alcatel has revealed that the 1S will cost $110. It has been released in Power Gray and Algate Green color variants with availability in Europe, Latin America, Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa in Q1 2020.
The Alcatel 1V is essentially an Alcatel 1S but with a few changes to cut down the pricing even further. It has the same 6.22-inch HD+ notched display but has only a dual-camera setup. It has a 13-megapixel and a 5-megapixel sensor on the back along with a 5-megapixel front camera. It features a dedicated Google Assistant button for a quick trigger.
Alcatel has priced the Alcatel 1V at $88 which makes it a good choice for those on a tight budget. There are Pine Green and Prime Black color variants with availability in Latin America, Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa in Q1 2020.
The Alcatel 1B is an Android Go smartphone which makes it the most affordable smartphone in the lineup. It sports a 5.5-inch HD+ display with the traditional 16:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, it has a quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. It has a Smart Manager service that Alcatel says will run in the background to optimize the device performance.
We don't know the camera specifications yet but it comes with a 3,000mAh battery. It should be able to last for a day with ease. On the software front, it runs Android 10 (Go edition) out of the box. The Alcatel 1B has been priced at $66 with Prime Black and Pine Green color variants to choose from. Like other phones so far, it will also be sold in Europe, Latin America, Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa in Q1 2020.
