Garmin has teamed up with Amazon to announce its latest car accessory named Garmin Speak. It is powered by the virtual assistant Alexa and as you might have guessed from the name, it can speak back relevant answers for your query. While there have been Alexa-powered car accessories in the past, Garmin's approach is different in the way that Alexa can be used for in-car navigation as well.
The Garmin Speak sports an OLED display accompanied with a light ring and measures 1.5-inch in size. It means it is quite compact and can even be placed on the windshield. To get started, all you need to do is to pair your smartphone with the device using Bluetooth and a companion app. This basically means the device relies on your phone's internet connection to work and as for offering audio output, it needs to be connected to your car's speakers which can be done using either Bluetooth or AUX.
Once you have all set up, you can use the Garmin Speak to interact with Alexa and get answers to your queries. It supports over 100 Alexa skills which means it can be used for pretty much anything Alexa does on any other device. You can ask it for the weather update, latest news, traffic update, jokes, trivia, and play music among other things. As for the navigation, the OLED display even features four arrows to help the driver stay in the right lane.
The Garmin Speak has been priced at $149 and is available for purchase via Garmin website, Amazon, and Best Buy.
