Amazon at the CES event shared that it's expecting to see a lot more games for the Echo Buttons this year that will take advantage of the Echo Buttons.
Speaking to Techcrunch, Steve Rabuchin, the Vice President of Amazon Alexa said,
I think you'll see a lot more games come out this year that take advantage of the buttons.
To the uninitiated ones, Amazon back in September 2017 launched a new family to its Echo family – Echo Buttons that have been designed to offer physical interaction with other Echo devices. They are used to play games in conjunction with an Alexa device. Amazon first showed a demo in which the Echo Buttons were used to play games like trivia – something similar to quiz-show style applications, where the users push the button to answer just like on traditional televised game shows.
Echo Buttons were launched for $20 as first in a new line of what Amazon is referring to as “Alexa Gadgets.”
Together with new games, the Echo Buttons are expected to receive new skills. Rabuchin also said,
The model is that we build something, we open it up to the developer community, and let them innovate.
For now, the buttons aren’t standalone devices, but connect with Echo via Bluetooth and the newer developer tools will allow the developers to build their own connected devices.
