Amazon has been testing and planning their drone delivery service for a long time now as the company even went on to test its first customer packager delivery and get approved by FCC for the same in a span of the past few months.
The company as speculated before has now filed a patent which would let its drones land with the help of parachutes which could just float its way into your neighborhood. The patent describes a delivery mechanism that consists of a parachute packed inside the drone’s label, which for starters is quite unconventional.
A parachute to enable the packages to be dropped from the aerial vehicle, yet land at the package’s destination without damage.
The technique could be made to alter for different sizes of packages with various labels and parachutes to hold though nothing has been made certain on how these parachutes are likely to be deployed. The patent is supposed to come with hooks but there’s no demo or a schematic demonstrating the same and we can only see this being in operation in open lawns since it might need space to navigate and deploy the parachute at the time of landing.
