The images of the upcoming AMD Radeon HD 4870 X2 graphics card have been leaked.
AMD plans to introduce the high-end dual-GPU HD 4870 X2 by the end of August, according to sources at graphics card vendors.
The latest addition to AMD's line-up of graphics cards (RV770XT) will be priced at around Rs. 25000
Reference designs will include 2GB GDDR5 memory onboard. The R700, or Radeon HD 4870 X2 as some call it, looks to have the same basic layout as the current Radeon HD 3870 X2: two GPUs joined by a PLX PCI Express switch chip, with eight memory chips on the front and eight on the back of the circuit board.
The 4870 X2 may be a very potent competitor to Nvidia's GeForce GTX 280.
It is expected to be launched in August 2008.
