Is AMD selling its RX Vega 64 GPU at a higher price?

10 August 2017 0

AMD’s RX Vega 64 GPU has been listed on many online portals for sale. This means that while they are up for pre-order and will actually only be dispatched quite a while later, the prices are listed for each of them, including the Black, Limited, and Liquid Cooled Edition. Remember AMD’s claim of the GPU launching for $499? It’s time to see how far that is true. Price listings were viewed on online portals all the way from Europe to those hosted in Asia, and what was revealed is actually quite shocking!

After analysing the prices of the various editions of the GPUs on different online stores, it was found that the RX Vega 64 Black was being sold at the same price as that of the Limited edition. The Limited edition was set at a price tag of $599, while the Black edition was supposed to be launched at $499. The current scenario places both at the $650 mark. Bear in mind that both are blower style coolers, with the Black edition being identical to that of AMD’s reference cards and the Limited edition carrying a metal grey look and finish. However, performance is likely to be the same on both GPUs. If there isn’t any price difference between the two, why even create two blower style editions of the card?

Here’s a list of prices which AMD claimed that their RX Vega 64 GPUs would be launched at and what they have been found to be selling at on different online stores:

Do you think this could just be owing to launch prices? Do you think the prices would slowly fall? Let us know what you think about this in the comments section down below!
