Nokia 7 officially announced with Bothie camera and 4GB RAM at $377

Yesterday, we shared HMD global sent out the invite for the official unveiling of the new smartphone today. Today the company today announced the much-hyped Nokia 7. Well, As expected the device fits below the Nokia 8 in the company's Android Portfolio and sits above Nokia 6. The device is initially announced exclusively for the Chinese market. The Nokia 7 brings traditional design and on the first look you can easily judge its a Nokia branded smartphones.

As being exclusive for the Chinese market the Nokia 7 is announced in different variants. The device is the upper mid-range device which aims customers looking for a good performer at half price of the flagship device. The Nokia 7 is featuring a 5.2-inches LCD display with full HD screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The device primary snapper is the 16MP module with the f/1.8 aperture with dual-tone flashlight whereas the front-facing wide-angle selfie camera is 5MP.

Like the flagship Nokia 8, the latest Nokia 7 is also bringing 'Dual-sight' technology which Nokia dubbed as Bothie feature. This tech allows the user to record and snap pictures simultaneously using the front-facing and rear camera at the same time. For those who are unaware Samsung introduced this feature with their flagship Galaxy S4 back in 2013. It seems like HMD global still thinks the Bothie feature could become an X-factor.

The Nokia 7 frame is made up of aluminum whereas glass covering the rear side. The Qualcomm's Octa-core Snapdragon 630 SoC is powering the device. The base variant has 4GB RAM with 64GB storage which is further expandable using MicroSD card whereas the top of the line variant has 6GB RAM with 64GB storage. A 3,000mAh battery cell is on board to keep its lights on.

As far as pricing is a concern the base variant cost ¥2,499 in China which is roughly $377 for the international customers. The top of the line variant will be available for ¥2,699 ($407). Unfortunately, the device is pre-installed with Android Nougat 7.1.1 straight out of the box but the company confirms Android Oreo update will be rolled out pretty soon. The device has 3.5mm headphone jack for audio output.
