The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) has now started to receive the November security update in the UAE. This update brings fixes for different security-related issues including the Wi-Fi KRACK exploit which is one of the biggest exploits reported in recent times. The update firmware version is A520FXXU2BQJ6 and even though it is currently available only in the UAE, it should be released for other regions soon enough.
The update should become available for your particular unit automatically and you should see the update notification. But if you have not yet, you can go to Settings ->Software Updates option to check for the update manually. Once the update becomes available and you download it successfully, we would advise you to go with the installation only if you have over 50% battery left.
Samsung has already updated the Galaxy A5 (2017) to Android 7.0 Nougat with an update released a couple of months ago. It was a big update weighing about 1.4GB in size. Other than upgrading the smartphone to a newer software, it included a new UX, improved Multi-window usability, added a Dual Messenger option, and offered different bug fixes.
