OnePlus 5T vs iPhone X camera test

17 November 2017 4

OnePlus' latest flagship OnePlus 5T is now official and definitely looks like a good offering if you are looking for a new smartphone. In terms of comparison with its predecessor OnePlus 5, there are no big differences except for the new 18:9 display. There is also an improved dual camera setup with special focus on low-light performance. While the actual performance of the phone will be tested in coming days, it is time for a quick camera comparison against the iPhone X.

Starting with the OnePlus 5T, it now has 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel rear cameras with f/1.7 aperture, phase detection autofocus, and dual-LED flash. While the secondary camera is a telephoto lens on the OnePlus 5, the team has ditched it and used a wider aperture (f/1.7) lens this time around. In comparison, the iPhone X features dual 12-megapixel rear cameras with f/1.8 and f/2.4 aperture, phase detection, and quad-LED flash. It has a telephoto lens which means it can also offer 2x optical zoom and better portrait shots.

Now talking about the camera comparison, both OnePlus 5T and iPhone X appear to be quite close in terms of initial still image samples. In other words, both flagships offer great photos and it will up to your personal preference whether you like saturated (brighter) shots as on OnePlus 5T or more realistic shots like on iPhone X. It is worth mentioning that Apple's offering has a better dynamic range than OnePlus.
