How to share your real-time location using Google Maps

17 November 2017 5

Google Maps is one of the best navigation tools that you can use. It can help you in a number of ways, no matter if you have to reach someplace you have never been or you want to check where is the closest hotel, pizza store, hospital or something else. But apart from all these usual things, Google Maps can also help you in sharing your real-time location with your family and friends so that they can check where exactly are you and how long it will take you to reach home if you are traveling.

The whole process of using Google Maps to share location in real-time is really easy and all you need is an Android or iOS device. Once you are done sharing the location, the selected people will be able to check it on their smartphone or even on the PC. So without further ado, let's get started.

Step 1: Launch Google Maps on your device (Android and iOS) and make sure that you are logged into your Google account.

Step 2: Tap the hamburger menu icon at the top left corner and select Location Sharing option.

Step 3: Choose the contact(s) with whom you want to share your location along with the duration for which you want to do it. You can also opt to share the location via any other app by tapping More option.

Step 5: Once the location is shared, you will see a pop-up alert notification as shown in the screenshot below. It shows you the contact and time duration selected. If you want to end sharing location before the duration you set, simply tap the cross icon.
