WhatsApp introduced Snapchat-inspired Status feature earlier this year. While it was appreciated by many, it received much hatred in the beginning. Well, whatever the response was, this feature together with Snapchat’s has now crossed 300M users’ milestone.
WhatsApp also re-introduced the text messages for the people who really don’t like the idea of putting the images and videos as statuses for just 24 hours. This shows that WhatsApp respects its every kind of user base and can do things to maintain the relationship. And, a few months after, the colored Status feature introduced that allows you to put colorful text messages in different fonts.
No matter how much you hate this clone of Instagram or Snapchat Stories, you must have used this feature for once at least. Well, even if you don’t put such short-term statuses, I bet you don’t avoid looking at your friends’ or family’s statuses. Well, let’s just commit, having such a fun feature on a messaging app feels great. The bad part is, these video and image statuses live for only 24 hours and you can’t really save them except taking a screenshot of each and every picture. But, that's about images, sometimes you do want to save those thrilling videos of your friends' recent adventurous trip that they have shared with you via statuses. But, how to save these WhatsApp status messages? You know the workaround for images, but what about the videos? Well, fret not! you can save your friends’ WhatsApp video statuses as well.
How to save WhatsApp Status messages to gallery
So, here, I am mentioning two methods with the help of which you can save the WhatsApp statuses, no matter they are images or videos.
Note: But, before diving into this quick guide, make sure you aren’t bothering anyone’s privacy or better ask the person itself that you’re saving the statuses of them. (Well, that's right, if they have selected you from their privacy settings and allowed you viewing their statuses then they mustn't be having an issue, but, still, a nod is required.)
Method 1: The first method requires no additional installation of any third-party app. The solution is present in your Android phone itself. Just go to the File Explorer and select the WhatsApp folder. Now, select the "Media" option. Now, select the three-dots from the top right corner of the screen and select Settings and then enable "Show Hidden files." This will show you the files which were first hidden to you.
The ".Statuses" folder will show you all the images or videos that your friends have shared with you. So, copy them and paster somewhere else on the phone as they reside here in this folder for 24 hours only.
Method 2: This method requires suitable app installation that will let you download your friends' statuses. There may be many apps present for the same, but, I've come across two apps and these are Story Saver for WhatsApp and Status Saver for WhatsApp. Both these apps are for Android and you can download them from below.
Both these apps include the ads, they shouldn't bother you much as you don't have much work to do here. If you use Story Saver app, just go into the "New Images" provided below on its homepage.
And, if you're using the Status Saver then the main screen itself shows two options Images and Videos; self-explainable enough that how to download the WhatsApp status. Must note that you need to save them in any of your gallery folders as the Status messages live for only 24 hours. So, save your favorite statuses and access them anytime.
