Sharp FS8018 spotted on TENAA with bezel-less design

23 December 2017 3

Back in August Sharp announced bezel-less smartphone Aquos S2 which shares some design aesthetics with the Essential Ph-1. Today another Sharp branded bezel-less smartphone appeared on TENAA listings which not only reveals the design details but also the hardware specs sheet under the hood.

The Sharp FS8018 is featuring a 16MP primary sensor on the rear side whereas the selfie-camera on the front is 20MP. This shows the company's main focus is front snapper instead of rear module. In terms of specs, the device is featuring a 5.48-inches display with Full HD screen resolution of 1080 x 2040 pixels. This is exactly the same display we have seen on the Aquos S2. An Octa-core chipset is powering the device at a clocking speed of 2.2Ghz which will be either Qualcomm's Snapdragon 630 SoC on the Snapdragon 660 chipset. The base variant has 4GB RAM with 64GB native storage whereas the top-tier variant has 6GB RAM with 128GB memory. Recently the FS8018 appears on Geekbench with 6GB RAM.

As OS the device is pre-installed with Android Nougat 7.1.1. Apart from the display, the overall measurement of the FS8018 is pretty much similar to Aquos S2. The FS8018 dimensions are 142.7 x 73 x 7.8mm and weigh 140g whereas the Aquos S2 measurements are 141.8 x 72 x 7.9 mm. The device lights are kept on by a 2,930mAh battery cell. From the look of the things, it seems like the Sharp wants to enhance their portfolio and the upcoming device will be the selfie-centric bezel-less smartphone. As far as release is a concern, it is still in dark. However, we will keep a close eye on the matter and will update our readers as soon as some more info pop up online. Stay tuned.
