OnePlus 5 Android Oreo stable released | UPD: OxygenOS 5.0.1 released

UPDATE (January 7th, 2018):

After a delay of about four days, OnePlus finally released OxygenOS 5.0.1 build based on Android 8.0 Oreo for OnePlus 5. The new build is pretty much is same as the one which was delayed earlier except for a couple of changes. With the build, OnePlus has fixed a bug related to third-party camera apps and network issues related to European operators.

The update is being rolled out in phases which mean it might take same for the update to land on your particular OnePlus 5 unit. You can check for the update by visiting phone's Settings and About phone section.

UPDATE (January 3rd, 2018):

OnePlus has now cancelled the global release of OxygenOS 5.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo for OnePlus 5. The team did not give any specific explanation for the cancellation except for saying that there was a bug in the build. It has stopped rolling out the version completely and is now working on next build which will be OxygenOS 5.0.1. There is no timeline for when it will be released but we will keep you updated.

OnePlus has officially announced the release of OxygenOS 5.0 Android Oreo stable version for OnePlus 5 users. The stable version has been released after one month of beta testing was started. It is an OTA update and weighs 1587MB which means it is advised to have a WiFi connection before you start the downloading process.

The update will upgrade your OnePlus 5 to Android 8.0 Oreo which means you will get all new Oreo features. Some of these include new notification management, picture-in-picture mode, and redesigned notification shade among others. Since the update is layered with OxygenOS, OnePlus has also added some of its own unique features and customizations.

While the update is rolling out, it does not bring Face Unlock feature yet. OnePlus CEO Carl Pei said that Face Unlock will be added to OnePlus 5 in near future. For uninitiated ones, the Face Unlock feature was released with the OnePlus 5T and is currently one of the fastest facial recognition features in the market. It allows you to unlock OnePlus 5T by simply having a look at it.
