Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 with Snapdragon 632 coming in Q2 2018 | Report

02 January 2018 3

There have been different kinds of reports and rumors related to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 in recent times. The most interesting one in the lot was reported a couple of weeks ago when an MIUI super moderator that the recently launched Redmi 5 Plus is actually the rebranded Redmi Note 5. He said that Xiaomi has decided to discontinue Mi Note line but as per a new report, the things are completely different.

This new report is coming from a Chinese publication My Drivers claiming that the Redmi Note 5 smartphone is actually under internal testing at the moment. Xiaomi is said to be waiting for Qualcomm to announce the all-new Snapdragon 632 processor which it plans to use in the much-awaited Redmi Note 4 successor. This wait is also expected to push the launch of the smartphone in Q2 2018. It means there are still at least three months to go for the official announcement.

Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 632 processor is said to be a relatively less powerful chipset than the Snapdragon 636 because of the lower-clocked CPU and GPU. But as it is expected to come with Qualcomm Spectra 160 ISP which is good at handling dual camera setups, Xiaomi is reported to be holding on until its release.

Other major speculated Redmi Note 5 specifications include a 5.99-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It means it will be the latest Xiaomi smartphone to feature bezel-less display design approach. There is expected to be a 12-megapixel dual camera setup as well which can also be same as the Mi A1. It is reported to come only with 4GB RAM but users can expect to get storage options.
