Xiaomi seeking beta testers for Mi Mix 2 Android Oreo update

04 January 2018 2

About a few weeks ago, we reported that Xiaomi was beta testing Mi Mix 2 Android Oreo update within a closed group. It seems like the team has made a good progress as it is now inviting applications from users who would like to be a part of the open beta program. The program is aimed at those users who are running MIUI global ROM on their device which means if you are on China ROM, you can't be a part of the testing.

To become a beta tester for Mi Mix 2 Oreo update, you will need to install the official MIUI Forums app and tap on the Recruitment option. It will present you with a form where you have to fill up all the asked information and submit the same. The last date for doing so is 23:59 (Beijing time) on January 8th, 2018. If you are selected, you will be contacted by the team via a personal message on MIUI forum. It is worth mentioning that it is a must that your Mi Mix 2 is running the latest global developer ROM to be a part of the program.

Xiaomi has not said anything about the release of the stable version but if everything goes smoothly, we can expect that to happen in next couple of months or so. It should also be noted that if you are going to apply for the beta program, you should be ready to face some bugs and performance issues like fast battery discharging.

Xiaomi recently updated Mi A1 Android One smartphone to Android 8.0 Oreo. Once it releases the same for Mi Mix 2, it will become the first MIUI running device to be upgraded to Oreo.
