Sony Mobile has announced two new mid-rangers but selfie-focused smartphones Xperia XA2, Xperia XA2 Ultra, and Xperia L2. All these phones are aimed at those who love to capture selfies and are currently being showcased at CES 2018. The major difference between the first two is that the Ultra variant comes with not one but dual selfie cameras.
Starting with the Xperia XA2, it comes with an 8-megapixel 120-degree "super wide-angle" selfie camera. This simply means better group selfies with no need of cramming everything up in a smaller frame. On the back, it has a 23-megapixel camera with 1/2.3" Sony Exmor RS sensor and ISO up to 12800. It further supports 4K video recording and 120fps slow-motion videos.
On the front panel, you will find a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. There is a 3300mAh battery to keep the lights on along with Quick Charge and adaptive charging technologies. It will be launched in single-SIM and dual-SIM variant depending on the market and will be running Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. There will be four colors to choose from Black, Blue, Silver, and Pink.
As for the Xperia XA2 Ultra, it has dual 16-megapixel and 8-megapixel selfie cameras with optical image stabilization and 120-degree wide-angle lens respectively. There s LED flash available on both smartphones to help you click clearer night and low-light selfies. The rear camera setup on the device is exactly as the one we talked about with Xperia XA2.
Staying true to its name, the smartphone offers a 6-inch Full HD IPS display with wide color gamut and Corning Gorilla Glass. It also has a bigger 3580mAh battery with Quick Charge support. The processor remains the same which is Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 and so do the single/dual-SIM variants and Android 8.0 Oreo. The four color options for the Xperia XA2 Ultra are Silver, Black, Gold, and Blue.
Lastly, we have the Xperia L2 which is an affordable offering as compared to the above ones. It has a 5.5-inch HD display with 13-megapixel f/2.0 aperture rear camera and 8-megapixel 120-degree wide-angle front-facing camera. It has a 3300mAh battery and will be shipping with Android 7.1.2 Nougat.
Sony has not mentioned anything about the pricing of these new Xperia selfie smartphones. As for availability, the Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Ultra will go on sale starting next month and the Xperia L2 will be available for purchase late this month.
