The well-known audio products manufacturer Bang & Olufsen confirms to have future devices with Google Assistant on board. It's not surprising to hear the brand is planning to release smart products with Voice Assistant because this year at CES 2018 we have seen tons of new products with Google Assistant or Alexa.
When the company was asked why they didn't opt Alexa or Siri. They stated Alexa lacks multi-room support for the third party whereas the Siri is yet not open to third parties. The company confirmed AirPlay 2 support is coming to 10 devices from the company including A9 mk2, M3, M5 and Beosound products. The AirPlay 2 support will be rolled out via software update once the AirPlay 2 released.
The company tech director Petros Belimpasakis stated:
"It goes back to our core philosophy of basically being agnostic and giving customers choice but the Google Assistant is a starting point" It’s the only ecosystem that has, let’s say buildng blocks we need which is the multiroom, the voice assistant, the apps but as other ecosystems mature we will bring more assistants on board.
Google Assistant will follow you, from your phone…or from future headphones that will have a voice assistant built in. Siri? When ready and open to other devices then yes. If you’re an Apple customer you already have the touchpoints with microphones. If it becomes available for third party integration we will be ready."
He further stated it's not easy to integrate microphones perfectly on larger devices as opposed to small home products like Google Home. At this year CES event, the company showcases upgraded H8 and H9 headphones and also an E8 wireless headphones are adorned with a couple of luring colors. The current gen E8 headphones are the best selling product so far from B&O.
