Now as per latest info, the company is getting ready to announce a clamshell smartphone W919. Last month the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Gionee took the spotlight to announce 8 smartphones with the bezel-less design but unfortunately, these devices were not true bezel-less smartphones what many Gionee fans were expecting.
The upcoming clamshell smartphone from Gionee has model number W919. The device listing appears on China IT and Industry Ministry website which is first must to get the network permission in the country. The device Ministry listing appears a couple of months ago which indicates the device launch isn't far away.
The W919 is expected to be released as a successor device of W909. The W909 was announced back in March 2016. The company took a couple of years to announce its successor with a revamped design. The W919 top and bottom have triangular design instead of rectangular slab design of the predecessor.
The clamshell W919 comes with dual displays. It comes with physical T9 keypad below the inner display. Like most of the Gionee premium smartphones, the W919 also has leather material rear which hints the company will place this device in the premium segment. The rear side is adorned with single camera sensor accompanied with dual LED flashlight. The fingerprint scanner is on the rear side below the camera sensor.
As far as specs are a concern the listing didn't reveal any info but thanks to TENAA certification of this device we are aware of what it is bringing on board in terms of specs. The W919 features dual 4.2-inches display with HD screen resolution. An Octa-core chipset is powering the device clocking at 2.5Ghz with 6GB RAM. The device native storage is 128GB. Its storage can be further expanded up to 256GB using MicroSD card.
The rear primary snapper is 16MP whereas the selfie-camera on the front is a 5MP module. As OS the device is pre-installed with Android Nougat 7.0. A 3,000mAh battery cell will keep the W919 lights running. As far as release and pricing is a concern both are still in dark.
