Telegram has announced the release of a Telegram-client app called Telegram X. The app is exclusive to Android users at the moment and is aimed at offering a completely revamped user experience. The major differences between the main Telegram and the new client app are in terms of the design, speed, animation, gestures, and underlying code.
The all-new Telegram X is based on the TDLib (Telegram Database Library) and has been developed by the dev(s) who went to win a coding competition held by Telegram founders two years ago. The newer version is all about offering more speed to the tasks that users do on the app in their day-to-day usage. Even the UI has been revamped and packed with gestures to make everything intuitive and seamless.
Some of the major changes included are Night mode and Bubble-free mode for conversations. There are separate tabs for text conversations and calls which makes it easier to browse. Tapping on any user's profile, there are dedicated tabs for shared media like images, videos, and documents. It even supports peeking into conversation functionality where users can tap and hold on any conversation to see a preview without having to open it.
In the official announcement, Telegram said that Telegram X is an experimental app which is currently pitched as an alternative for users who would want to try out something different. But it did mention that there is always a possibility that the team could decide to replace the main Telegram app with the X avatar of the app.
The team even talked about TDLib which is aimed at developers to help them create better messaging apps. It will allow developers to create Telegram client apps with ease without having to worry about how to handle the database and encryption. The code used in the library is said to open and available on Github for anyone to have a look at. For developers who might be interested in this, simply click source links below to know more.
