ZTE Axon 7 was announced back in 2016, later on in 2017 instead of releasing its successor the company released Axon 7S with upgraded hardware but the design remained same. In 2017, ZTE only announced Axon M the first foldable smartphone and it was indeed one of the most innovative smartphones announced last year. ZTE Axon 7 was pre-installed with Android Marshmallow, later on, in March 2017, the company rolled out Android Nougat.
The company started the Android Oreo beta program for Axon 7 few weeks ago in the US and now the company is finally rolling the stable Android Oreo 8.0 update for Axon 7 users in China. The new update is rolled out with MiFavor 5.2 custom UI layer over it. The new update brings all the goodies of Android Oreo 8.0 with revamped UI and many other features. If you haven't received it yet, you can checkout manually by going into the settings menu and then click the three dot button to check whether the update is available for download or not.
The Axon 7 is featuring a 5.5-inches AMOLED display with Quad HD screen resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. The Corning Gorilla Glass 4 is protecting the display with 4GB RAM and native storage is 64GB which is further expandable using MicroSD. The rear primary snapper is 20MP whereas the front-facing selfie camera is 8MP. A 3,250mAh battery cell is on board to keep the device running, it supports Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 for fast charging. For connectivity, it has USB-C port and 3.5mm headphone jack for audio output via headphones. It features Dolby Atmos stereo front-facing speakers to provide awesome audio experience. The fingerprint scanner is on the rear side. ZTE CEO recently confirmed the Axon 9 will be released later as a direct successor of Axon 7.
