Amazon has started the process of issuing a refund to all those Prime Exclusive device users who paid the ad-removal fee. The decision has been taken after the company announced last week that it was ending the Prime Exclusive program. The confirmation of the refund was sent by the company via an email to concerned users.
The Prime Exclusive program was started by Amazon with the goal of offering selected smartphones at a relatively affordable price but in exchange for showing ads on the lock screen. It meant while users got their devices cheap, they had to encounter ads everytime they would interact with the lock screen. It also allowed users to get rid of these ads completely by paying a one-time fee of $45.
This is the reason that when Amazon announced the termination of the program, many of the users who had paid the fee were worried for obvious reasons. But to their relief, Amazon has decided to refund the amount to those users. The only thing which needs to be kept in mind here is that this refund will be awarded in the form of Amazon credit within next few days. It means this is not a cash refund and you will have to spend that amount on Amazon itself.
