Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro finally official in India with 18:9 displays

14 February 2018 3

Xiaomi has finally launched the Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro smartphones in India with the price starting at just Rs.9,999. Well, at just this price tag the Redmi Note 5 phone features 18:9 display, which is quite on trend now. So, this could be an option for the consumers who were looking for an affordable option with the full-screen display from its favorite manufacturer.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 gets the same processor as its predecessor Redmi Note 4 that had a great success in the country. The company has leveraged the power of this processor so as to make it work just decent with the new screen size.

Redmi Note 5

  • 5.99-inch FullHD+ display, resolution of 2160×1080 pixels
  • Snapdragon 625 processor
  • 3GB/4GB RAM
  • 32GB/64GB storage, expandable storage
  • 12MP rear camera
  • 5MP front-facing camera with LED flash
  • Hybrid SIM slot
  • Android Nougat based MIUI 9
  • 4,000mAH battery

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 was actually launched as Redmi 5 Plus in China in December last year so this is a rebranded version that Indian consumers will receive. The device has an attractive 5.99-inch 18:9 display with 2160x1080 pixels resolution and it comes in two variants — one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, and the other with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

Redmi Note 5 has a metal back with plastic antenna inserts at the top and bottom that have a metallic finish. There is a 12MP sensor and a 5MP front camera with an LED flash. The battery is now 4,000mAH, this is shrunken from what we saw in its predecessor.

Internally, not much has changed if you compare it with the Redmi Note 4 and the company is, of course, touting the display only.

The Redmi Note 5 variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage is priced at Rs. 9,999 and the 4GB version with 64GB of storage cost Rs. 11,999.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro

Well, the real changes have come to Redmi Note 5 Pro. It also includes the 18:9 panel but has dual rear cameras – 12MP+5MP. Also, the device is powered by Snapdragon 636 processor. Another interesting specification is the whopping 20MP front-camera that is bundled with an LED flash.

  • 5.99-inch FullHD+ display, resolution of 2160×1080 pixels
  • Snapdragon 636 processor
  • 3GBRAM+32GB internal storage, 4GB/6GB RAM with 64GB storage
  • Dual 12MP camera with a f/2.2 aperture along with a 5MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture
  • 20MP front-facing camera with LED flash
  • Android Nougat based MIUI 9
  • 4,000mAH battery

The phone will go on sale starting later this month, with the 4GB option with 64GB of storage for Rs. 13,999, and the 6GB variant with 64GB of storage for Rs. 16,999. The model with 4GB of RAM is available at launch, with the 6GB model going on sale at a later date.
