Sony announces the flagship XZ2 smartphone at the MWC 2018. Finally, the device goes official after tons of leaks and rumors in past few weeks. The Xperia XZ2 is the company's first flagship smartphone of the year with the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 SoC. The XZ2 is featuring a 5.7-inches IPS LCD display with 2:1 aspect ratio, its an HDR display with the best experience while watching movies thanks to the company's new dynamic vibration system. The new vibration system turns audio signal into vibration which provides an amazing experience while watching videos and playing games. Sony claims the Xperia XZ2 is a top-notch entertainment device.
The XZ2 is featuring a metal design with a fluid 3D liquid surface. It is much overhauled from the company's traditional OmniBalance design. Under the hood the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 SoC is powering the device with 4GB RAM and built-in native storage is 64GB and it is further expandable using MicroSD card. For connectivity, it comes with USB-C port and Bluetooth 5.0. The XZ2 dimensions are 153 x 72 x 11.1 mm and it weighs 198g. Like most of the latest smartphones, it is IP65/68 certified. It will be available in single and dual-SIM variants.
A 3,180mAh battery cell is on board to keep its lights on. As rumored earlier the device supports wireless charging but the wireless charging dock WCH20 will be sold separately as an accessory. The fingerprint scanner is on the rear side below the camera module. As OS the Android Oreo is pre-installed straight out of the box. The rear side is adorned with a single 19MP camera with /2.0 aperture. It is capable to capture slow-motion Full HD videos at 960 frames per second. The camera brings Autofocus burst and X8 digital zoom without affecting the image quality. Up front, the selfie-camera is 5MP with f/2.2 aperture.
The rear and front camera of both the devices comes with 3D creator tech which allows users to turn their selfies into 3D pictures which can be posted on social media sites. As far as availability is a concern, the XZ2 will be released in four striking colors Liquid Black, Deep Green, Ash Pink and Liquid Silver from March 2018.

Apart from the larger flagship the company also announced its compact sibling the XZ2 Compact. The XZ2 Compact will surely attract buyers looking for a solid compact flagship smartphone.
The Xperia XZ2 Compact comes with a 5.0-inches IPS LCD display with 2:1 aspect ratio. The display is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Its good to see Sony finally jumped to 2:1 display bandwagon with the latest XZ2 series, however, the company is yet not ready to leave thick bezels of their traditional OmniBalance design. Would have loved seeing the specs sheet side by side. It's easy to compare that way.
Sony has overtaken every other brand with the Xperia XZ2 to bring it out with the newest SD845!
But it remains to be seen how much stock has Sony grabbed of that of the 845 chip. Heard Samsung has got all of it.
Unaware of that. But yes, they are going to have a lion's share of it.
