Huawei’s upcoming phone the Y5 Lite 2018 will be the company’s first phone to support Android Oreo Go edition.
Google launched the Android 8.1 Oreo optimised Android Go edition for low budget smartphones meant for emerging markets. At the Mobile World Congress 2018 event this week, the first smartphones running Google’s Android 8.1 Oreo Go Edition were announced.
Alcatel 1X, ZTE Tempo Go, and the Nokia 1 were some of the smartphones launched with Android Oreo Go. Now, reports have emerged that Huawei will also launch the Y5 Lite (2018) as the company’s first Go Edition smartphone. The firmware confirmations of the Huawei Y5 Lite 2018 running Android Go were confirmed by XDA-developers. Android Go consists of a number of build configurations and has special Go optimised apps. XDA-developers claim that they have access to the devices firmware files, which confirm that the phone will be the first device from Huawei running Android Oreo Go.
The phone reportedly has a number of apps like Assistant Go, Gmail Go, LatinIMEGoogle Go (Gboard Go), Maps Go, Search Go and YouTube Go. The platform configuration file reveals that the phone will have a MediaTek MT6737m SoC, with 854 × 480 pixels resolution, and dual-SIM connectivity. The Huawei phone will have a quad-core Cortex A53 CPU with 1 GB of RAM and 8 or 16 GB of storage. We will know more details about the phone over the next few weeks, so stay tuned.
