Android P developer preview 1 is already out for the Pixel devices but there are still a number of smartphones which are awaiting the Android Oreo update. The HTC U Ultra was one of the many devices which was still yet to receive Android Oreo. Almost a year back, the company did confirm that the device would get the update but no precise date was ever given. Finally, HTC has rolled out the Android Oreo update for its HTC U Ultra smartphone.
The update is being gradually seeded and has made its way via an OTA update in Taiwan, India, and Italy. This update brings Android 8.0 to the device as well as firmware version 2.19.400.1. However, some users are claiming that they are seeing version 2.19.709.2 instead. It seems like maybe the difference in version depends upon the region in which the update is rolling out. However, there’s also a difference in the size of the two updates, where the former is 1.32GB and the latter is slightly larger in size at 1.56GB.
The update comes with the January security patch and apart from an OS upgrade, there are a few system enhancements. If you happen to have an HTC U Ultra, have a look out for the update.
