Original Post (March 12, 2018)

OnePlus 5 has received a new Open Beta build which is based on the Android 8.1 Oreo. The Open Beta 6 apart from updating the device to the Android 8.1 Oreo also brings some other changes on the system level and more.

First off, the Open Beta 6 has added the new auto pick up gestures that answer an incoming call by just raising the phone. This means, you don’t have to do anything when this setting is enabled; simply raise the phone and the call will get picked up. The last Open Beta build to the current beta added pick-up gesture switcher with the help of which users can choose which way to pick up a phone call.

On the system level, the Open Beta 6 updates the device to Android 8.1 Oreo and also brings general bug fixes and improvements. Apart from them, the update also adds more clock styles for ambient display to the device. This update also brings February Android Security patch.

The Open Beta 6 for OnePlus 5 also brings something for the Gaming mode. It adds new optimizations in gaming mode for a better and immersive gaming experience. For instance, the power saving mode has been optimized and users can also pause the adaptive brightness now.

The changelog of this build also writes the inclusion of OnePlus Switch that adds the support for the users to migrate application data between the devices seamlessly. However, the Open Beta 4 already added the support of the same to the OnePlus 5 but, the company’s forum once again mentions this inclusion via the latest beta update.

The update doesn’t mention any known issues with the same.
