Samsung Galaxy S9 kernel sources released

15 March 2018 3

Samsung has now released kernel source for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ flagships. It has released the files just ahead of the time when both these devices will go on sale around the world. This is similar to what it did last year and is indeed a good news for the whole developer community interested in the two flagships.

With the availability of the Galaxy S9 kernel sources, it will become a lot easier for developers port TWRP custom recovery to the device. It will also help them in developing and testing various mods for the flagships which can eventually enhance the already available user experience. This can even be used for enabling some functionalities which Samsung might have disabled for some reasons.

The kernel source files have been made available for SM-G960F/SM-G960U and SM-965F/SM-965U models of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ respectively. It is specifically aimed at the firmware version G960/G965-FXXU1ARB3. It should be noted that unless you are a developer, you should not be concerned about the availability of these files. But if you are a developer, click the source link below to access and download these files.
