The Chinese electronics manufacturer Hisense has confirmed that it will be launching 5G phones starting 2019. The announcement was made by Hisense General Manager Fang Xueyu during an interview. She said that the company has been working on 5G network technologies for three years now.
Xueyu further shared some information about the timeline of how the plan to release 5G phones would work. She said that development of 5G devices prototypes will commence this year itself. These prototypes will enter the testing phase early next year and in the meantime, it will also participate in 5G network testing. With all the testings done, we should see the first batch of Hisense 5G phones sometime in later 2019.
Hisense became a member of the IMT20205G team in 2015 which was three years ago from now. The goal of the team is to test and develop 5G communication technologies and devices. It later joined China Mobile's 5G Terminal Initiative Plan aimed at developing 5G technologies.
The company already has a number of good products in the market including smartphones, Smart TVs, and other electronic appliances. We should hear about its 5G phones as time will pass.
