Instagram has now announced the expansion of shopping tags to Stories. It is a feature aimed at allowing users to know more about a product and even purchase it quickly from within the app itself. It was initially released in 2016 as a test feature and was available through posts in the feed. But since Instagram Stories have proved to be a huge success, it makes sense to expand the feature to stories.
As per the announcement, if you come across an Instagram story with a shopping bag icon next to a product, it means that post is compatible with the shopping tag feature. Tapping on that icon will take you to a new page within the app revealing all the important details about the product. It should be noted that this page will not be opened in a browser which will result in a fast loading saving you time.
The good thing is that it is not restricted to only offering relevant details. It will further allow users to buy the product. This is a handy addition, especially for those who love to shop online. It will make it faster and easier to shop the item that just caught your eye as you will not have to spend time researching about it and then looking where you can get it.
