18 June 2018 3

The Chinese luxury smartphone brand 8848 (inspired by Mount Everest's height) is working on a new smartphone named M5 Titanium. It will be the fifth phone from the brand which has now been spotted on the Chinese regulatory website TENAA. It means the official announcement should be around the corner but in the meantime, the listing reveals some crucial details about the design and specifications.

As per the listing and accompanying images, the 8848 M5 Titanium features a hexagonal design similar to the predecessor M4. It also reminds of the Vertue luxury smartphones that were quite popular once. But the smartphone in question has at least one unique thing about it which is a small circular display on the leather back panel. It is a 1.99-inch AMOLED display with a 390 x 390 pixels resolution. While not confirmed, it is likely to be used for showing relevant information like weather, time, date, and notification count.

As for the primary display, it is a 5.65-inch Full HD+ (2016 x 1080 pixels) with an unknown display panel. There is an undisclosed quad-core processor at 2.0GHz coupled with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of internal storage. It does not feature microSD card support for storage expansion.

There are a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 12-megapixel front camera which should be good enough for casual photography. The whole package is powered by a 3450mAh battery and it will be running Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. There are no words on the launch date yet but we will keep you updated.
