Huawei has launched a new smart band called TalkBand B5 at an event held in China. It is basically a fitness band but also doubles up as a Bluetooth headset when popped-out from the strap. If you are thinking it is a weird combination, then it is worth mentioning that this is not the first time Huawei is doing it. This new offering also happens to be a successor to the TalkBand B3.
With the TalkBand B5, Huawei has opted for a 1.13-inch AMOLED display which is said to be 23% bigger than the previous offering. It comes with 512KB RAM and 16MB storage space but it does not support the manual installation of apps. It means users will have to be contained with the ones that will come pre-installed. The whole package is powered by a 108mAh battery claimed to last for up to three days. It also boasts IP57 certification for water and dust resistance.
As for the Bluetooth headset capabilities, it comes with a triple-core audio chip and high-definition voice support. It further has a dual microphone and noise cancellation for a better on-call experience. The AMOLED display on the device also works as a caller ID screen to let you know who is calling. To make calls, you will need to make use of the speed dial functionality by adding selected contacts to the speed dial.
Other features of the TalkBand B5 include a real-time heart monitor and sleep tracker. It makes use of Huawei TruSleep 2.0 for analyzing the user's sleep quality and offer valuable insights. There are no words on the pricing yet but it is currently up for preorders until July 19th in China. The sale is said to kick off from July 20th.
