Skype Preview app gets call recording and SMS support via an update

17 August 2018 3

Skype Preview has received an update that takes the version number to 8.29.76 for Android and iOS. The update brings a couple of new features including the ability to record the Skype calls.

Skype Preview will now be able to record calls right from the app which means the users don’t have to rely on third-party apps for any longer. The second feature is the ability to send SMS messages. It can be done via two methods. One can use the Skype SMS to send and receive text messages on your Skype account using the Skype Credit and the second option is to send SMS messages using “SMS Connect” which will set your default SMS app to Skype and allow you to send receive messages on the Desktop via the Skype app.

The SMS feature is reportedly available for Skype for Android only and not for iOS platform.

The full changelog reads:

  • Record calls – You can record calls using the appropriate button – soon you will be able to record Skype video calls without third-party software.
  • Send and receive text messages – You can send text messages using Skype Credit or the Your Phone app.

You can download the app from below for the respective platforms.
