The Japanese giant Sony just announced a new FES Watch U smartwatch. Sony claims it is the first fashion smartwatch as it brings a number of customization options which allows the user to fully customize it according to their preference.
Unlike most of the current-gen smartwatches, it brings tech and fashion on the same platform. Usually, the smartwatches are either targetted to tech lovers or those who want a fashionable smartwatch. The FES Watch U allows you to design the way you want individually. According to Sony, the FES Watch U comes with a new e-paper technology which allows you to change the design on the go instantly.
Sony utilizes active matrix flexible e-Paper for the designing of the strap as well as front-facing chassis. This allows users to customize designs according to their mood and scenarios. Thanks to a change in straps and front-facing side customization the personalization experience is pretty amazing.
The watch is pre-loaded with more than 100 different custom designs. All the custom designs are available on the 'FES Closet' app. Not just that the company confirms they joined hands with a number of designers across the globe to bring more designs in future. You can utilize photos, images to custom the looks of straps and front-face.
Sony stated the thermocompression tech is used to build the FES Watch U. The frame and buckle are made up of stainless steel. Under the chassis the company uses e-paper. Considering it targets fashion lovers, the FES Watch U is available in two striking colors options including premium black with sapphire glass whereas the second color is silver with mineral glass. The rear casing is also made up of stainless steel which means the watch is not only beautiful but also durable as well.
It supports both iOS and Android running devices and comes with IPX5/7 ratings to protect against water and dust. As far as availability is a concern, initially it is available for Japan, Hong Kong, and Chinese customers. It will be released for the European countries including Spain, France, Italy, and Germany from September this year. For the UK buyers, it will cost £529 whereas for the European region it will be available at £699.
