OnePlus has once again come forward to confirm that it will be launching a new 5G smartphone next year. It made this newest confirmation during Qualcomm's 4G/5G summit where we also got to see the unveiling of the new Snapdragon 675 Mobile Platform.
At the summit, Qualcomm started by confirming that there will be at least two 5G flagship smartphones coming next year. It was after this revelation when OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei came up on the stage. He went on to acknowledge the developments and improvements that have been made in the 5G network space. He later confirmed that there will be a OnePlus 5G smartphone launching in 2019. He said that the phone, likely to be the OnePlus 7, will definitely be one of the first (if not the first) to come with 5G network support.
This is not the first time that OnePlus has shared its plans regarding a 5G smartphone. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has made similar statements earlier this year when he tweeted, "Inspired by our workshop with the awesome team at Qualcomm. Look forward to being among the first to bring you 5G devices next year."
While we still have at least six months before hearing any official teasers from the company, considering their smartphone launch track record, there is a OnePlus launch event just around the corner. It is the event where we will be seeing the official release of the OnePlus 6T, the first smartphone from the company to come with an in-display fingerprint scanner.
