Amazon launches Audible audiobooks service in India, starting Rs. 199 per month

08 November 2018 3

Amazon has officially launched its premium audiobooks service named Audible in India. It has been available in the United States and many other countries for quite some time. This is the newest addition to Amazon's suite of apps and services meant for the Indian market.

Audible has been introduced in beta stage with a collection of over 200,000 audiobooks. It is said to feature many of the world's best-selling titles as well as various regional titles to attract as many users as possible. Like almost every other service, it is a monthly subscription service. It has been priced at Rs. 199 per month with a 30-days free trial. For those who are existing Amazon Prime member, the free trial is available for a period of 90 days.

As part of the membership, Audible users will be able to keep the audiobook once purchased. The user will get to keep the purchased audiobook even after the trial version expires or the membership is canceled. All of the orders will be accessible from the Library option within the service.

It will be offering one credit per month to each of the users. The available credit can be used for redeeming any of audiobooks regardless of the pricing. It is further allowing users to exchange the book if he does not like it after starting to read. The only major difference between the service offerings in India and in the United States is that Amazon offers one audiobook title and two Audible original titles in the latter market.

All of the Audible users will be able to access the catalog and book library from the web browser as well as via smartphone apps available for Android and iOS devices.
