OnePlus 5/5T OxygenOS Android Pie Open Beta is "almost out"

26 November 2018 3

If you are a OnePlus 5 or OnePlus 5T user with OxygenOS, you must be wondering for how long you would have to wait to receive the latest Android 9 Pie. The answer is not for very long. OnePlus has now confirmed that OnePlus 5/5T OxygenOS Android Pie Open Beta is almost out.

This new announcement regarding the rollout schedule has been made by one of the OnePlus representatives on the official forums. In his response post, he said, "Some of you may have noticed that it has been 3 weeks since the last Open Beta build for OnePlus 5/5T. We’d like to shed some light that Pie for 5/5T is almost out for Open Beta."

While OnePlus is still refraining from offering a specific timeline, it is safe to assume to that the Android Pie upgrade should arrive sooner than later. Another reason to believe the same is that OnePlus has already pushed the HydrogenOS-based Android Pie beta upgrade for OnePlus 5/5T users in China.

It should be noted that OnePlus CEO Pete Lau had revealed last month that it would take some time for them to upgrade OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 3 series smartphones to the latest Android version. He did not go into details to talk about the exact or possible reasons behind the delay but confirmed that the latest build was under development.

Among all the OnePlus smartphones, the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T are the only two phones which are running Android 9 Pie. The former received the new version via an OTA update about a couple of months ago and the latter comes pre-installed with the latest version.
