PVR Cineams release Alexa skill for seamless bookings and tracking

22 January 2019 1

PVR Cinemas has announced the release of its official Amazon Alexa skill for all Alexa users in the country. The skill is aimed at offering a seamless and hands-free user experience of checking shows, making books, and tracking details. Like any other Alexa skills, it will be accessible via any Alexa-powered device like Echo.

As per the skill's description page, PVR Cinemas Alexa skill supports voice commands which is something expected. It will allow users to make certain queries using their voice and get relevant results from Alexa. These queries can be about looking for PVR Cinemas nearby, checking currently playing movies, show timings, booking tickets, and even selecting preferred seats. The payment can be made by using wallet-based payment methods and if wanted, one can also receive a link to make payment via any other mode like net banking and credit/debit cards.

To get started with using the skill, one will have to link his/her PVR Cinemas account with the skill using the Alexa app. Next up, the user needs to say, "Alexa, open PVR Cinemas". This will trigger the skill and post this, one can start asking questions. These can be like: "Alexa, ask PVR Cinemas for the nearest theater" and "Alexa, ask PVR Cinemas to explore movies".

Other than just asking for questions, one can also choose to opt-in for reminders. This will allow the skill to remind the user about an upcoming show one hour before the scheduled timing. It means let's say a user has made bookings for a 6 PM show, the skill will remind him about the same at 5 PM.

If interested, search for PVR Cinemas in the Alexa app and you will be presented with the skill. The next step is to download and enable the same and you are good to go with the rest of the process of using it.
