OnePlus 6/6T OxygenOS update brings Duo integration, Jan 2019 security patch

12 February 2019 2

OnePlus has released a new OxygenOS update for both OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 6 users. The exact version numbers are OxygenOS 9.0.12 and OxygenOS 9.0.4 for the two Android flagships. The latest update for both devices is an important one as it brings a couple of noteworthy changes.

The first change to take note of is the release of the January 2019 Android security patch. Even though it is currently one month behind the schedule, it is good to see OnePlus not falling behind too much. The newer security patch should make OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T safe against many of the previously vulnerable security threats.

Another big change is that both OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T now support deeper Google Duo integration. It means users will now be able to make Duo video calls to their contacts directly from the default dialer app. It will eliminate the need for opening the Duo application which will make the whole process relatively faster and more convenient.

Other than this, the team has improved the display optimization on OnePlus 6T. This particular change is not available with the OnePlus 6 update. To wrap up the changelog, there are bug fixes and system improvements which are usually expected with every software update.

OnePlus is rolling out the latest OxygenOS update over the air. It means you will be receiving notification as and when the update will become available for your particular unit. One can also choose to look for the update manually by visiting phone settings.
