Honor has confirmed that it will start rolling out Honor 8X Android 9.0 Pie update in India starting March 18th. The update will be released in the form of EMUI 9.0 which is the latest iteration of the custom Android skin. It will be an over the air update with a gradual rollout set to take place.
With EMUI 9.0, users will receive all the new UI features and redesign elements along with Android Pie benefits. A couple of new features included in the update are Password Vault and Digital Balance. The first feature is basically a native password manager service to prevent users from the hassles of remembering passwords and entering them again and again. As for the second, it is Huawei's own take on Google's Digital Wellbeing feature for Pixel and Android One devices.
This will make Honor 8X the fourth Honor smartphone receive Android Pie update in India. It has previously updated Honor View 10, Honor 10, and Honor Play phones to the latest Android version. If we go by their respective changelog, users can expect to receive features like GPU Turbo 2.0, HiVision digital assistant, Wireless Projection, Uninterrupted Gaming mode, and Wireless Printing.
To recall, the Honor 8X was launched as the newest mid-range from the company last year. It sports a 6.5-inch Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) LTPS IPS LCD display. It features octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 710 processor coupled with 4GB and 6GB of RAM. These variants come with 64GB and 128GB internal storage with support for microSD cards.
On the back, it has a 20-megapixel and 2-megapixel dual rear camera setup with f/1.8 aperture and LED flash. It has a 16-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture. The whole package is powered by a 3,750mAh battery with fast charging. It was running EMUI based on Android 8.1 Oreo at the time of launch but that is set to change in one week.
