Huawei was one of the first OEMs to start working on Android Pie update. It announced EMUI 9.0 as the latest iteration of its custom skin which has already been released for a bunch of devices but considering its large portfolio, there are still a good number of devices waiting for the same. And now, it is the turn of Huawei P20 Lite and Y9 (2018) to get the taste of the newest Android version as it has kicked off beta testing for both.
In an official tweet, Huawei India has asked for P20 Lite and Y9 users to take part in the Android Pie beta program. It is aimed at testing the new software ahead of public release so that any unwanted situations like bugs and performance issues can be fixed in time. Interested users can be a part of the program by using the Huawei Beta app available via its official website.
The user is required to log in using his Huawei ID after launching the app. The next step is to visit Personal -> Join Project -> Available Project. This will allow the app to detect the user's device and show relevant beta projects (if any). If you see an available project, tap on the same and you will be accepted in the beta program.
Once this happens, a new OTA update will become available for your device which will be the latest beta build. In the case of P20 Lite and Y9, it should be EMUI 9.0 based on Android 9 Pie. But since it is a beta release, one should proceed only if they are okay with running into issues like random app crashes or any other kind of bug/performance issues.
