Huawei launched all-new P30 and P30 Pro just a couple of days ago but company executives have already started to talk about the next-gen Mate series flagship. As per official revelations, the Huawei Mate 30 is currently under testing with a possible launch in September-October 2019. It could also feature support for 5G connectivity like many other OEMs are working on similar devices.
Starting with the first bit of information, Huawei Product Manager Bruce Lee told Malaysian reporters that the team has started testing Mate 30. He said that they are eying a September or October 2019 launch for the device which will give them about six months for all kind of testings. With the help of a translator, he shared, "Now is March and the Mate 30 will be launched in September or October."
Other than this, Huawei CEO Richard Yu told Digital Trends that they are considering offering Mate 30 with 5G connectivity. He talked about this while answering queries about whether the current Huawei P30 series will see 5G variants. He made it clear that there will be no such models as they believe 5G connectivity is not ready yet but are hopeful that it will be by the time Mate 30 arrives.
He further said that they believe that the possibility of Mate 30 5G and lack of 5G will not have a significant effect on P30 sales. In the conversation, he said, “I understand some people are waiting for the 5G network, but most will not wait. The 4G they already have is good enough, so they can choose the best camera phone now."
Huawei is one of the early adopters of 5G connectivity as it has already announced the foldable Mate X phone with 5G support and Mate 20 X 5G. It means if Mate 30 comes with 5G, it will be third such phone from the company which will make it the brand with the most number of 5G phones in the market.
