Instagram testing in-app notifications on Android and more features

04 April 2019 2

Instagram seems to be testing several new features, we say that because the traces of the same have been found by a tipster who likes to uncover some unreleased features of your favorite apps. In some of her latest tweets, she has shared the screenshots of these new features but the details on all of these features are pretty scant as the source hasn’t shared anything else. But, looking at these screenshots, we could fairly assume what may be coming.

Instagram seems to be deeply engraving its roots into the e-commerce as it’s bringing more shopping-related features to help you buy your favorite item right from its app. A major step introduced recently has already made it a full-fledged e-commerce platform but there’s more to furnish always, especially if you thrive to satisfy your audience.

First launched the “Checkout on Instagram” button, Instagram is now reportedly testing new buttons in Shopping Explore page. The new buttons help in exploring shops and browsing your saved shopping Collection. From the look of it, we conclude that when you are inside the Shopping Explore page, you would see several items and two buttons hovered below to the collection. These buttons are Shops and Saved, while the former may take you to several shops available on Instagram in one category, the latter button may save your favorites.

This takes us to the new feature that Instagram may bring soon and it’s the Shopping bag, available on the menu. This could simply be the Cart or the items that you have just saved using the Saved button for shopping mentioned above. Currently, Instagram saves all the posts at one place, even the shopping items you select to purchase in the future. So, the company may be thinking to bring a separate category that will save on items you may shop in the future. But this feature looks unlikely and we better bet on the Cart feature.

The third feature found by Jane shows the in-app notifications coming to Android. Currently, it notifies if someone you follow starts a live video. But now the in-app notifications would work more and even notifies you when you comment on something or it may even work if you like something.

It’s unknown when these features will make their way officially, but the tipster has given a hope that such features do exist and we may gain them soon.
